Tonto National Forest implements Stage II Fire Restrictions and Emergency Recreational Shooting Order, beginning June 30, 2026 at 8 a.m.
PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trails in the Tonto National Forest, described in detail below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Appendix A (the “Described Area”):
- Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(a)
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area at least three (3) feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of any flammable material. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(d)
- Welding or operating any acetylene or other torch with an open flame. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(h)
- Discharging a firearm, air rifle, or gas gun. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(m)
THE FOLLOWING ACTS ARE PROHIBITED FROM 9 A.M. TO 8 P.M.:
Operating a chain saw or other equipment operated by an internal combustion engine. 36 C.F .R. § 261.52(g)
