Services

In addition to EMS and fire suppression services, our fire department often becomes the “all-hazards” response agency for our community — not only fire and EMS, but also rescue, disaster support, hazard control, education, and general public service.

1. Rescue Services

  • Vehicle accidents → extrication, stabilization, hazard mitigation (fuel leaks, battery disconnects).
  • Water/ice rescues → if near lakes, rivers, or ponds.
  • Search & rescue → missing persons in fields, forests, or rural terrain.
  • Farm/agricultural incidents → entrapments in machinery, grain bins, or heavy equipment accidents.

2. Hazard Mitigation

  • Responding to hazardous materials spills (fuel, chemicals on roadways).
  • Containing and securing downed power lines or storm damage hazards.
  • Flood response, sandbagging, or pumping water out of basements.

3. Disaster Response

  • Assisting during storms, wildfires, or floods with evacuation support.
  • Providing shelter support and manpower when disasters overwhelm normal services.
  • Clearing roads of fallen trees or debris to restore access for emergency vehicles.

4. Community Education & Prevention

  • Fire prevention programs in schools and public spaces.
  • Home safety checks (smoke detectors, CO alarms, fire extinguishers).
  • CPR, first aid, and Stop the Bleed training for the public.

5. Public Service / Community Support

  • Providing standby coverage at fairs, parades, sports events, or large gatherings.
  • Assisting law enforcement with traffic control at accident or fire scenes.
  • Welfare checks on elderly or isolated residents in emergencies.
  • Supporting community fundraisers and events that help sustain the department.
